In 2019, Dublin City University (DCU) commissioned a new public sculpture as a permanent symbol of the Teachers Inspire Initiative. This initiative celebrates the profound impact and invaluable contributions of teachers in Irish society.

Renowned contemporary sculptor Sandra Bell was awarded the commission. Her artwork, inspired by the work of teachers, plays on the theme of light and features a figurative cast-bronze sculpture adorned with 24 karat gold leaf. This stunning piece is prominently located on DCU’s St. Patrick’s campus.

The Teachers Inspire Initiative underscores the essential role teachers play in shaping minds and fostering the growth of future generations. Sandra Bell’s sculpture beautifully encapsulates this spirit, serving as a lasting tribute to the dedication and inspiration provided by educators across Ireland.
