About DCU Studio
DCU Studio is a learning innovation, production and development unit, focused on implementing the DCU Strategy for Teaching and Learning. We aim to excel at delivering, producing and implementing bespoke learning solutions, both online and face-to-face, to augment DCU’s academic and professional portfolio for learners, academics and external partners.
DCU Studio Vision
"To co-develop and support the delivery of transformational and high-quality learning experiences and resources at DCU with DCU Stakeholders.”
Studio staff provide a range of support and production services to drive DCU’s learning outputs, including for university-wide strategic initiatives such as DCU Futures, ECIU University, and MicroCreds, in addition to a range of national and EU-funded projects such as DigiAdvance. This includes a design-on-demand service to support our community of academics in their teaching and learning endeavours and facilitating co-construction with industry professional, and societal partners. DCU Studio staff also participate actively in shaping national and international policy in transforming learning across multiple domains with a particular focus on flexible learning and micro-credentials.
DCU Studio Mission
“To develop and implement learning opportunities with DCU staff that enable and empower students to fulfil their potential, using effective, iterative and inclusive learning design and production processes. To work with both internal and external stakeholders, collaborate across disciplines whilst doing this, to continually learn from these experiences whilst working with a progressive focus on delivering real value in all activities and to our stakeholders.”
Under the leadership of Dr. Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl, Director of Micro-Credential Strategy and Innovation, the team has an array of expertise in enabling tailored support to guide high-quality research, innovation, design and production in learning across all modalities and collaborating with other DCU Units. DCU Studio plays a vital role in leveraging synergies across the university for sustainable teaching & learning practices and developing business opportunities which bring together multidisciplinary subject-matter experts, professional support functions, and external stakeholders. We aspire to drive and scale the continuous development of relevant, student-centred, high-quality programmes and learning opportunities based on DCU T&L strategic mission.
