Introduction to Psychology
This course is for those interested in the study of the human mind and behaviour. It is designed to provide an introduction to psychology as a field of study. You can expect to learn about the different perspectives of psychology, the scientific method of psychology and a brief overview of some clinical diagnoses and psychological treatment options.
Topics will include:
- Introduction to psychology as a field (eg, what is it and the goals of psychology)
- Main psychological perspectives (eg, behavioural, cognitive)
- Personality (eg, what is personality and the different perspectives of personality within psychology)
- Positive psychology (eg, what is it, resilience, post-traumatic growth)
- Social Psychology (eg, social influence, the main social psychology experiments)
- Ethics and research methods (eg, types of research)
- Clinical psychology (eg, overview of some diagnoses and psychological treatments)
