DCU Mentorship Programme 2019/20

This programme is brought to you by the DCU Careers Service in partnership with the Alumni Office. It is available to second year undergraduate students only.

This is a competitive process. Places are limited and selection is made on the basis of the information provided on application form below.

Tips for Application Form

  • Take time to think about your profile before submitting the form. This is important for matching you with the most suitable Mentor.
  • Think about how you intend to use the experience of mentoring to move your career ideas forward.
  • Be specific in what areas you are keen to have a mentor from and try to focus on those career areas.
  • Provide as much information as possible to make it clear what you hope to achieve and to enable the matching process.

Important Information
In order to be awarded the Certificate of Participation, students must:

  • Organise and meet with your Mentor at least three times to discuss career ideas/goals, to gain insights into roles, world of work.
  • Participate in three employability skills sessions organised by the Careers Service
  • Complete an Initial Learning Agreement with your mentor. (Careers will give you a copy of this)
  • Complete a mentoring meeting record of each meeting with the mentor and upload onto your Portfolio (Careers Service will explain this at the training and induction session)
  • Report (500 words) demonstrating reflective learning arising from participating in the Mentoring Programme and how it has developed you and your career ideas.
  • In addition, mentees must also complete two from the following list:
    • Virtual Work Shadow Day
    • CV
    • Interview Skills
    • Careers Growth Plan

Data Protection Notice
The Careers Service and Alumni Office will use the personal data you provide, by way of this form, for the purpose of the 2020/2021 Mentorship Programme. The personal data will be retained for up to one year after which it will be deleted/destroyed in a secure manner. Please note that by submitting the Application Form, you are consenting the information in the Application Form to be made available via Loop to the mentors and employers who have signed up to the Programme. The mentors (graduates and employers) review the Application Forms to select their respective mentee (student) and make contact with the mentee.
