DCU Careers Service is hosting an Employers-on-Campus event: 'Meet an Industry Professional (Computing, Engineering, Science)', where students can meet subject-matter experts within a small group setting from computing, engineering and science employers to ask them questions (see examples below) about their job and sector.

When and Where:

Solas room in the U Building / Wednesday 5th February / 12:30 - 2:30 pm  (You can book a 30 minute time slot within this timeframe)

Student Target:

This event is aimed specifically at 2nd year and final year undergrad students interested in computing, engineering or science related careers.

How Will it Work?

Industry professionals within the computing, engineering and science sectors will host a table based on their particular area of expertise. Small groups of students can visit each table and chat with them about their area of specialism and ask questions. Student groups will then rotate around the different tables at regular intervals.

There will be dedicated tables for subject areas such as:

  • Computing and Technology
  • Engineering
  • Science and Pharma
  • General Recruitment and Hiring tips
What Type of Questions?

It's up to you! Here are some examples:

Questions around the technical table could be:

  • 'Tell me about a day in the life of an engineer/scientist'
  • 'What type of projects do you work on/technologies do you use?'
  • 'How to get a job in that sector?'
  • 'What types of things/projects should I be learning/ working on?'
  • 'What would an entry level graduate do in your company?'

Questions/topics around the 'Recruitment and Hiring'  table could be:

  • CV and LinkedIn profile advice
  • Use of AI/ chatGPT CVs
  • Skills based or competency based interviewing
  • Interview processes / assessment centres
Registration:

Students must register in the link above and book a time-slot on in advance of attending.
