Academic biography

  

Assistant Professor Achilleas Floudas completed his PhD in Immunology at Newcastle University, UK in 2014 following from his undergraduate studies in Molecular Biology at the University of Crete, Greece. In 2015 he was awarded an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship to continue his research in Trinity College Dublin and joined the molecular Rheumatology Department in 2017. In 2020 he is awarded the CARD Research Fellow Innovation Award and in 2022 the Health Research Board Emerging Investigator Award and the EULAR abstract award. His research focuses on T cell and synovial fibroblast interactions in Rheumatoid and Psoriatic Arthritis, utilising advanced flow cytometric analysis, in vitro assays with 3D culture systems and bioinformatic analysis of RNAseq data in order to identify opportunities for more targeted therapeutic intervention.
