Love DCU 2025

Paul & Cliodhna

Cliodhna and I met on the St Pat's Campus, DCU. In the library no less and later got chatting after clubs & socs day discovering we'd both signed up to the running club. I was then President of the SU for a year while she was in her final year when we became official and either it was her newly found grá for politics or a desire to be around DCU (& me maybe) for another year she was later elected as President of the Students' Union for the following year. Needless to say the summer transition was a seamless one and soon after the proud Westmeath girl moved to Dundalk to take a teaching position and we got married in 2021 after a few delayed Covid wedding dates!

Caitriona and Aoife

We were partnered together in first year for a project over Zoom, so when we first met in person at the start of second year we instantly became close as we were part of the same friend group. When I went through a difficult time in the middle of second year Aoife was there for me throughout it, both supporting me personally and helping me ensure I could continue to succeed academically, meaning we became incredibly close and I finally decided to ask her out on a date. When we decided to give our relationship a try we were fully supported by our amazing friends in DCU and have been together for nearly 3 years, now living together, working in our first professional roles and travelling frequently. For all of our amazing travels however, our most amazing journey was our time together in DCU, which helped us not only build academic and professional lives we can be proud of, but also a relationship that has only gotten stronger and stronger. The picture attached is from our last night together in NYC, which we embarked on this past summer and would not have been possible without getting the chance to meet each other in DCU and growing a bond together that feels unbreakable.

Kashish and Aditi

My partner and I are from the same country and different cities. We never met each other before and happen to meet only because of DCU. I deferred my course from 2020 to 2021 due to COVID just to meet the love of my life.

We were living in the same Post Graduate Building. We happened to meet because our roommates were friends so we happened to meet only to find out that we were in the same course. We started talking and we started connecting with each other over games, sitting through lectures, being group project partners, being best friends and best of all drinking buddies.

It was during one of these late nights sessions where I came dead tired from my part time shift and my now partner said that she liked me and asked if I did too.

I was shocked to the point where I didn't know what to say and as the night passed, we ended up dancing to Perfect by Ed Sheeran, which makes it clear that I liked her as well.

Fast forward to 3 years, we still end up dancing to Perfect while cooking.
