Dublin City University and Rutgers agree new partnership

DCU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rutgers University-New Brunswick

The agreement recognises DCU’s and Rutgers-New Brunswick’s shared commitment to internationalisation of higher education and the promotion of international academic and research collaboration.

The MOU will lead to collaboration between the two universities in areas such as 

  • Research projects of mutual interest, such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Climate and Energy, Behavioural Health and others.
  • Collaborative teaching and learning
  • Women's Global Leadership

It will also cover staff and student mobility and exchange programs, study abroad programs, joint conferences and seminars.

Speaking at the signing of the MOU, Prof Anne Sinnott, Deputy President of Dublin City University said

“We at DCU are delighted to see the consolidation of our partnership with Rutgers through this agreement. The MOU underlines the growing academic links between us and highlights our shared values as impactful, research-intensive public universities.

Our collaboration is another positive step in DCU’s ongoing mission ‘to transform lives and societies’.”

Prof Francine Conway, Chancellor, Rutgers University–New Brunswick, said

“This partnership between Dublin City University and Rutgers–New Brunswick will create incredible new opportunities for students and promote scholarship on matters of global consequence: climate and energy, behavioural health, women’s leadership, and the revolution in data science and AI.”

DCU and Rutgers-New Brunswick

A delegation from Rutgers visited DCU in September 2023 and there have been a number of visits from DCU academics to New Jersey this year.

There are projects currently live involving DCU’s Faculties of Science and Health, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering and Computing, Institute of Education and Research Ireland’s Insight Centre for Data Analytics (based on DCU’s Glasnevin campus) and Rutgers. The two universities have collaborated on a number of publications since 2018.
