DCU alumni's 'Professional Journey in Spain'

DCU Alumni were among the 70+ attendees at  Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, (a DCU partner university) for the Spanish Irish Business Network (SIBN) student event ‘Your Professional Journey in Spain’. The event provided students and alumni both from DCU and other Irish universities, with insights, inspiration, and connections to help navigate the Spanish job market.

Spain has become a key destination for Irish students during their Erasmus year or final years of study, particularly for programs like DCU’s BA in Global Business (Spain), where students spend two years in Madrid, including an internship. This event helps those students navigate Spain’s challenging employment market.

The event featured a rich panel discussion titled “Building a Career in Madrid,” moderated by Sam Jones, a DCU Global Business Spain alumnus and featured Helen Cunningham, BA in International Marketing, and head of Head of Global Change, Crisis and Internal Communications at Amadeus. The event explored the opportunities and challenges of launching a career in Spain, discussing how it compares to other markets.

The evening concluded with networking drinks and snacks, allowing attendees to forge new connections and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. It was fantastic to see so many like-minded Irish students and professionals engaging and sharing their stories. This event marked another step in strengthening the Irish-Spanish professional community in Madrid.

The event was co-sponsored by DCU Business School Alumni Relations, Irish Embassy Spain and International Partnership of Business Schools (IPBS Network), a partner of DCU Business School.

DCU Alumni Relation thanks Sam Jones and his colleagues for creating this opportunity for DCU Alumni based in and around Madrid.
