Alumni from MA in Ethics & MA in Ethics Corporate Responsibility Reunite
Dr Alan J. Kearns Chair of the MA in Ethics & MA in Ethics Corporate Responsibility programmes, reflects on the recent reunion of graduates of the MA in Ethics Program.
Like most events and meetings in 2020, the MA in Ethics & MA in Ethics Corporate Responsibility Alumni gathering was halted due to the emergence of COVID-19 and its impact on all aspects of day-to-day activities.
Luckily, however, through technological means, the group were able to meet virtually, through Zoom, over the last couple of years. So, there was something quite magical on Tuesday 18th April 2023 when we were be able to meet up again, in person, on DCU All Hallows Campus. There was a great buzz and a palpable excitement in the air as graduates were delighted to see each other again, in-person.
We were back with a bang! The joy of being able to sit in a classroom and to be able to listen to informative lectures and engage in discussions was ably facilitated by two of our graduates: Ms Margie Craig – who gave a comprehensive talk on consent and patient health data – and Mr Edward Hughes who gave a thoughtful presentation on the meaning of authenticity and its relevance as a virtue today. As one of our graduates said afterwards, it “... reminded me of what I miss about doing the course.” We are already looking forward to our 2024 meeting.
Our thanks go to our graduates, who are great ambassadors for the MA in Ethics & MA in Ethics Corporate Responsibility programmes, and to Director of Alumni Relations Ross Munnelly and his team for their continuing support and assistance.
