Sigerson Cup Victory and Alumni Reunion
DCU Dóchas Éireann won the Sigerson Cup for the fifth time with an impressive 0-14 to 0-07 win over IT Carlow at the DCU Sportsground last week (Wednesday, Jan 29th)
It tops off a super campaign for the management team consisting of three Alumni, Paddy Christie, Davy Byrne and Kevin Leahy. The victory gives cause for extra celebration as DCU celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
Dublin goalkeeper Evan Comerford and Monaghan forward David Garland combined with seven points, overall to help their side overcome a tough IT Carlow side. Earlier in the competition, members from the four previous Sigerson Cup winning teams gathered to watch the opening round victory over the Garda College, following which, the Alumni enjoyed a reunion dinner in 1838.
This was the fifth Sigerson Cup victory for DCU since 2006, ensuring the University has won the competition in each of the last three decades.
