DCU Alumni Awardee 2024 Barry Doyle


Barry is Investment Director at the entrepreneur led investment company MASV and President of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

 

Following his time in DCU, Barry trained as a Chartered Accountant with EY in Dublin and then spent a number of years in Australia working for National Geographic and Fox International Channels.

 

On his return to Ireland, he took on a number of roles in the early stage technology sector including stints as CFO at xSellco, which was a Deloitte Fast50 winner, and at Storyful, where he was at the heart of the acquisition of the business by News Corp in 2013.

 

He was then COO with recruitment firm Mason Alexander before taking up his current role in MASV in 2021.

 

At MASV, Barry manages a family office and works with early stage and scaling technology businesses, including legal outsourcer Johnson Hana and innovation hub and startup accelerator Republic of Work. 

 

He was elected to the Council of Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2015 and reelected in 2019. He was voted onto the officer group in May 2022, and in May 2024 he became the youngest President of the Institute in its 136 year history. The Institute, an all-island organization, is Ireland’s largest professional body representing almost 39,000 members in over 100 countries and educating 6,600 Students. He takes on the Presidency at a historic time with the task of overseeing the organisation's amalgamation with CPA Ireland agreed by members earlier this year.

 

A triathlete and an avid runner, Barry is currently half way through the “Big 6” global Marathons.
