Ciaran Tourish
Ciaran Tourish, Aviation Management and Pilot Studies 4th year
Why you chose DCU?
Its excellent reputation as a university of enterprise, and one that has renown links with industry.
One unique part of your course
The Aviation Management with Pilot Studies course is unique in that it facilitates entry into a broad range of job opportunities in the aviation sector. In final year, we have the chance to gain our Commercial Pilots License at an approved flight training school abroad, or study advanced management modules in DCU with the aim of working in an airline, airport, aviation support organisation or Ireland's booming aircraft leasing industry. We also have INTRA in our course, which provides an 8 month work placement for all students in third year.
Best thing about DCU so far?
Co-Founding the DCU Aviation Society and having trips to places such as the Irish Air Corps in Dublin and Concorde in Manchester Airport. It has certainly enabled some great experiences and helped many to meet others with a common interest.
Plans after DCU?
I hope to work in the area flight operations, such as Flight Planning. However, beyond that I am still interested in becoming an Airline Pilot so who knows - so long as I'm up close to aircraft, I'll be happy!
