How does a maths support session work?
Maths support sessions are not grinds; no structured class takes place and no particular topics are addressed in any one session. Instead, students attend and work through mathematics on their own or in small groups, asking the tutors that are present for help if and when they need it. Tutors will not do homework for students but will assist with explaining methods or any particular difficulties in mathematics that a student has.
How much do the sessions cost?
They are free of charge.
Who are the tutors in the mathematics support session?
The tutors are DCU students who are training to be mathematics teachers. Help will be provided by the tutors on a first-come first-served basis.
Which secondary school students may attend?
Students from any school, year and mathematics level are welcome.

How can I sign up for a mathematics support session?
Use the booking form (CLICK HERE) each time you intend to come along to a session. This allows us to ensure we have sufficient tutors to provide adequate assistance to all students who attend.
Do I have to attend every week?
No, the support sessions are there for you to avail of as and when suits you. Some students may decide to attend weekly; others might just come along once or twice. It is entirely up to you.
Do I have to stay for the full two hours?
No. These are drop-in sessions, so you arrive whenever you like after 6pm and stay for as long or short a time as suits you up until 8pm.
What do I need to bring with me?
Bring your maths books, copies, calculator, log-book, pens, papers and any particular questions you want to work through during the sessions.
