Professor Keogh will introduce the session, and outline the transition to a ‘new normal’ experienced by students and staff of DCU over the last nine months. He will give an overview of developments in DCU and outline the factors contributing to DCU being named The Sunday Times University of the Year. Prof Keogh's address kicks off a session that will answer important questions such as: What changes have been happening at DCU? What have we learned? How did we put our incoming first years at ease? What is the reality of the student experience in a socially distant environment? |

In a society filled with digital and technological innovation students are told that there is every chance they will be employed in completely new jobs that don’t yet exist and such a developing employment landscape requires the ability to anticipate and prepare for future skills requirements. Here in DCU we want to ensure that students will gain skills for jobs of the future and have introduced a suite of new courses and specialisms that will equip graduates with the technological knowledge and societal competencies to be new types of ‘generalists’ and ‘specialists’, fully empowered to navigate this world. In a society driven by disruptive technology innovations such as automation, artificial intelligence, and digitalisation, graduates will be prepared to be future leaders who are big picture thinkers, problem solvers, socially engaged and passionate about social and technological innovation.
