Academic biography

Anne is a Full Professor of Nursing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Convenor at the School of Nursing, Psychotherapy & Community Health and Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning at the Faculty of Science and Health at Dublin City University. She is a Registered General Nurse and Registered Midwife and holds a B.Soc.Sc. from University College Dublin, an MSc Social Policy & Planning from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a PhD from Dublin City University.  She has worked in nursing, midwifery, health and social research, education, policy and practice in Ireland, England and Malawi. She has supervised and examined PhD students in areas of midwifery, health workforce planning, nursing, healthcare and social policy areas. She was Chairperson of the Irish Global Health Network from 2017 to 2021. She is the External Examiner for the MSc Health Policy & Management at TCD since 2022. She is a member of the Audit Committee of the Dept. Foreign Afairs, Ireland since 2023 and a member of one of the National Research Ethics Committees- Clinical Trials since 2023. She is the DCU member of the SPheRE (Structured Population and Health-Services Research Education) leadership team since 2024. She is a Board member of the NGO Beyond Stigma. She is a Research Associate and Trainer with Evidence Synthesis Ireland, which also hosts Cochrane Ireland. She has been a member and chairperson for Athena Swan Ireland assessment panels.
