InPlace: Clinical Nursing Placement at DCU
Training and Support for Partner Services
DCU clinical placements are administered using a system called InPlace.
This innovative software tool is designed to streamline the placement process, making it more efficient and user-friendly for students and all who support them, namely our valued partner health services. Please see below for step-by-step instructions to help you navigate InPlace effectively:

InPlace File Templates
This is the recommended option to fill your allocations to send to DCU. Columns in yellow are required to enable placement records to be created on the system. Any columns not highlighted are not mandatory, but can still be filled to give as much information as possible when creating placement records.
You can refer to the 'colour coding convention' file below to reference experience codes (nursing type codes).
Please click here to access.
These files can be used as an alternative to the import file if your service or number of students is very large.
The templates contain sections to fill for the group of students being allocated, including their identifying details, planned placement dates, nursing type and placement location. Please click on the relevant student group template below - note there are unique templates for the BSc in Children's and General Nursing:
This file provides a reference point for types of nursing and colours associated with each. It also contains a list of the new experience (nursing type) codes.
Please click here to access.
