International Protection applicants (asylum seekers), refugees, and those with leave to remain who are not eligible for state support (such as SUSI) can apply for a scholarship. Individuals who are at deportation order stage are not eligible.
The first step is to apply for a postgraduate degree at DCU. There is a fee for this - email us at sanctuary@dcu.ie and we can arrange to have the cost waived for you. After you have applied to study, we'll get in touch when scholarship applications open. The English language requirements can differ by faculty, so we'd recommend looking at these before you apply, and contacting us if you need any help getting proof of language competency.
Applications for the DCU University of Sanctuary scholarship open in April/May of each year. Sign up to the mailing list to be notified when the application form opens.
A photo or scan of your passport is a mandatory field when you apply for a postgraduate course. If you do not have a passport, you can upload a photo of any other identity document, alongside a note stating that you are seeking asylum, and do not have a passport. If you don’t have any other documents, email us at sanctuary@dcu.ie.
