Dr Viktoriia Ivannikova is an Assistant Professor in Aviation Management at Dublin City University Business School with an extensive teaching and research experience in aviation management and aviation operations in Ireland and Ukraine. She is also an External Examiner for MSc in Airport Planning and Management at Cranfield University, UK.
Viktoriia’s current research interests primarily focus on creating more sustainable and efficient air transport system of the future – with improved safety, security, efficiency, sustainability and customer experience, enabling a safe, sustainable, seamless and touchless passenger journey from home to boarding.
Before coming to DCU, she was Associate Professor in Aviation Management; Assistant Head of the Air Transportation Management department; Director of Education in English at the Faculty of Transport, Management and Logistics and Faculty of Airports; Course director for BSc in Air Transportation Management and MSc in Air Transportation Management at the National Aviation University of Ukraine.
She did her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering with emphasis on airports designing and planning at National Aviation University of Ukraine and was awarded First Class for both. In 2011 she was awarded a PhD in Air Transportation Systems by National Aviation University (Ukraine). Her doctoral research was focused on air cargo operations management at an airport.
Viktoriia sits on the editorial board of the prestigious peer-reviewed academic journals “Transport”, “Aviation”, “Journal of Airline Operations and Aviation Management”. She is also a regular reviewer for a number of prestigious aviation and transport research journals, i.e. Journal of Air Transport Management, Transport, Aviation, Journal of Airline Operations and Aviation Management, CEAS Aeronautical Journal. Viktoriia is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Annual Scientific Conference “TRANSBALTICA: Transportation Science and Technology”, held by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Vilnius, Lithuania). She is also a member of the Organizing Committee and Conference Secretary at the Annual IEEE International Conference on “Advanced Trends in Information Theory” (Kyiv, Ukraine).
Viktoriia is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is a secretary of the IEEE Ukrainian Section Information Theory Society Chapter.
In 2014, she won the ‘Big Silver Medal’ for the best published research paper at the category: “Airports Designing and Planning”, awarded by the Construction Academy of Ukraine.
Dr Ivannikova is a Board Member of the Research and Methodological Commission on Transport and Services of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and is responsible for the development of academic standards for Ukrainian universities delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in aviation management and transport engineering.
Dr Viktoriia is also a Member the DCU Business School Research Committee and CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) Programme Lead at DCU Business School.
Viktoriia is a Member and DCU representative at the Universities Transport Study Group (UTSG).
She is an International Expert of aviation and transport study programmes accreditation for two agencies: Independent Agency of Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) of Republic of Kazakhstan and National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA) of Ukraine.
She is author and co-author of four aviation books, numerous research papers in aviation management and regular speaker at international academic and business aviation conferences.
