Damien Burke
Dr
Dr. Damien Burke is an assistant professor in the School of Policy and Practice at DCUIoE.
Damien's chief area of responsibility is working on the Professional Placement Team to help coordinate the suite of primary placement modules on both the B.Ed. and PMEP programmes. He also contributes to the M.Ed. (leadership strand) and D.Ed. programmes, alongside supervising a number of PMEP2 research projects.
Damien has extensive experience of teaching and school leadership at primary level. He has been a class teacher, learning support teacher, teaching principal and administrative principal in various schools in Dublin. Damien has previously worked at the Marino Institute of Education lecturing in teaching studies and mathematics methods / competency.
His current research interests include school leadership, teacher/middle leadership and pre-service teachers' subject-knowledge competency. Damien had participated in many professional collaborations with the NCCA in Ireland; has been involved in Europe-wide Erasmus Plus projects; had devised and delivered both online and face-to-face PD for serving teachers, and, has provided consultancy services to various textbook publishers.
Damien holds a Bachelor of Education, Masters of Education, Postgraduate Diploma in School Leadership and a Doctor of Education degree.
