Dr Hsu's research in the field of digital learning has made a significant impact. His published articles in several leading academic and practitioner journals as a first and single author, along with his participation in 25 presentations at peer-reviewed conferences on both international and national levels, have advanced the field and inspired many in the academic community. Dr Hsu is engaged in several research projects broadly related to digital learning. For example, he is the DCU PI for the DCU-ASU Collaborative research project on exploring pre-service teachers' perceptions of generative artificial intelligence in educational planning and implementation. He was recently appointed to the editorial boards of the Journal of Technology and Teacher Education and the Journal of Interactive Learning Research. Both journals are published by the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE).
Recognised for his exceptional research and innovation, Dr Hsu has been honoured with 20 prestigious awards on both national and international platforms. Some notable awards include the 2018 Nova Southeastern Award for Outstanding Student Practices in Instructional Design from the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), the 2018 Outstanding Student Practice of Educational Technology in an International Setting from the AECT, 2017-18 Reimagine Education Award – Bronze Winner of the Virtual/Augmented Reality Category, and the 2019 Outstanding Graduate Student Research Fellowship in Technology Innovation and Application from the Foxconn Education Foundation.
