Kevin Gormley
Dr
Kevin Gormley is a lecturer in Music Education at the School of Arts Education and Movement, Institute of Education, Dublin City University. Since graduating from St Patrick's College, DCU, he completed Masters degrees in Education (UCD) and Music (Maynooth University). Kevin's doctoral study, undertaken at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, was an analysis of how the concept of creativity is discursively constructed in education policy and practice. Kevin has taught at all primary class levels both in Ireland and in Australia, has directed school choirs and has worked as a specialist music teacher. He holds an Associates Diploma from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
At DCU, Kevin coordinates and teaches into core modules in music education for undergraduate and postgraduate students. He also supervises final year projects and is involved in student reflection and enquiry tutorials. Kevin works with students on school placement and is a doctoral studies panel member.
Kevin welcomes enquiry into doctoral study, firstly in the areas of creativity and policy analysis, and more broadly, in regards to the following teaching and research interests: the work of Michel Foucault, neoliberalism, music education, arts education and music technology.
