Jenna Harris is a vocalist, composer, and lecturer from Dublin. Jenna specialises in jazz and improvised music. She performs regularly as a solo artist and with her band Berri, a three piece with leading creative musicians Matthew Jacobson and Derek Whyte where Jenna frequently loops and processes her voice, “a group that makes clear the difference between a jazz singer and a singer of jazz songs" (The Irish Times).

While Jenna improvises with her voice and improvises with the effects she uses to process her voice, a style of improvisation has developed that intrinsically links the two, both feeding back and forth from each other. Her performances often incorporate reactive visuals that she builds as a platform to exhibit the voice as the instrument it is.

Jenna is a lecturer on the BA in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance at Dublin City University where she lectures in Voice, Instrumental Skills, Ensemble Repertoire and Performance, and Aural Training. In 2022 Jenna founded the Gender Balance Awareness platform. This involves meet-ups, jazz history, listening sessions, and corrective work such as creating a balance of gender representation in ensemble curriculum.

Jenna is a faculty member for Jazz Camp For Girls, a collaborative project with the Improvised Music Company and DCU’s BA in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance.  Jazz Camp for Girls is an international educational programme supporting pre-teen and early teen girls in exploring improvisation and jazz music in a fun, supportive environment. It began in Denmark in 2014, with camps now running across Europe.

Jenna also regularly collaborates with guitarist and electronic musician Daniel Jacobson (Zoid) and is a member of guitarist Tommy Halferty’s quartet Voices. She is the founding member of vocal group Claritas.
