Enda is an assistant professor in the School of Health and Human Performance and currently programme chair for the BSc in Athletic Therapy and Training. He graduated with undergraduate degrees in physiotherapy and Athletic Training, an MSc in Applied Biomechanics and a PhD investigating the effects of fatigue, decision making and stability exercises on lower limb biomechanics during sporting manoeuvres.

Enda is the co-founder of the Centre for Injury Prevention and Performance in the School of Health and Human Performance. His research themes include determining risk factors for common musculoskeletal injuries related to physical activity and the subsequent development of injury prevention programmes which he has published widely on. He has a particular focus on running related injuries, hamstring, hip and groin injuries and sports related concussive injuries with a particular focus on community level sports, female athletes and adolescent populations. Enda is also passionate about clinical the investigation and development of ways in which to improve clinical healthcare education.

Research Interests

My research themes include determining risk factors for common musculoskeletal injuries related to physical activity and the subsequent development of injury prevention programmes. In particular I am passionate about

1. Understanding the nature of running related injuries

2. The development of injury prevention programmes for common injuries such as injuries to the hamstrings, knee, hip and groin based on a comprehensive understanding of their epidemiology, aetiology, prevention and implementation requirements

3. the assessment and management of sports related concussion

4. clinical healthcare education
