DCU President's Award for Innovation 2022

The team behind the DCU Research Lifecycle Web Resource were delighted to be awarded the President's Award for Innovation 2022 (in the Administration and Support category) at yesterday's DCU President’s Awards for Engagement and Innovation ceremony.

The award recognises a new, or significantly enhanced, process or method which was conceived and adopted internally at DCU and which led to a tangible and demonstrable benefit to DCU.

The lifecycle resource has been designed to help researchers across the University, and those who support them, to navigate the DCU Research Lifecycle (from project idea to exploitation of results and everything in between), both clarifying processes and providing information on where to access supports and services.

The resource is the culmination of a large-scale, 2-year project undertaken by members of the DCU Research team.  What can be seen as a complicated, involved, detailed, lengthy process, has been clearly laid out and made navigable, providing guidance to all the supports available at each stage.  The resource clearly explains how things work, who to talk to and what happens next in relation to being involved in funded research in DCU.

The innovative project transformed a highly complex process, which had never previously been mapped, into an intuitive and easy-to-use online resource, which is resulting in reduced workloads and frustrations for both researchers and support staff, increased staff satisfaction, and less time, effort and resources being spent searching for answers and solving issues.

We invite you to access the resource via the 'Support for Researchers' menu item on the DCU Research website or directly at www.dcu.ie/research/lifecycle.
