Academic biography

Eamonn McConnon is the Research Development Officer for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and a member of the Research Innovation and Support team. He is responsible for a range of research activities at the FHSS including: 
  • Assisting academic staff in the preparation and writing of funding applications
  • Identifying and promoting potential areas of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary funded research grant applications
  • Advising on internal and external application procedures
  • Engaging academic staff with national and international research funding opportunities

Eamonn received his PhD from the School of Law and Government, Dublin City University. He has a BA in Archaeology and Sociology from University College Dublin and an MA in International Security and Conflict Studies in Dublin City University. He has experience as a project manager on EU Erasmus + and Horizon 2020 funded projects. 



Research interests

The merging of development and security; the use of development aid for conflict prevention and resolution; failed states; migration and the security-development nexus; human security; and security and development in Africa.
