Kick off of Physics in Action Project
The first online workshop for the Physics in Action took place recently. Teachers from schools in Dublin, Balbriggan, Navan and Mullingar participated in this hands-on, interactive workshop that explored inquiry-based and embodied cognition approaches to teaching and learning Science.
The aim of the Physics in Action Project is to make teaching and learning in Physics an active,
engaging and enjoyable experience, through the use of embodied cognition approaches. Over the
course of this year-long project, teachers, students and parents alike will be provided with
opportunities to engage with a range of inquiry-based and embodied cognition approaches to
learning Physics. Embodied Cognition is the idea that not only are our minds connected to our
bodies, our thoughts are shaped by the types of perceptual and motor experiences we have as we
interact each day with the world.
The Physics in Action Project is funded by Science Foundation Ireland.
