Prof. Silvia Giordani wins High Level Scientific Mobility Grant
Prof. Silvia Giordani from the School of Chemical Sciences has won an inaugural High Level Scientific Mobility Grant, a mobility scheme part of the Grants of the French Government, to strengthen scientific cooperation between Ireland and France.
This new scheme awards grants to spend one month in a research team in France. This collaborative research project will combine Irish and French expertise in nanomaterials and electrochemistry to develop a new avenue towards smart energy devices.
Prof. Giordani said
"I am delighted to have been selected for the high level scientific mobility grant which will allow us to start a research collaboration with Dr. Nicolas Brun and his team at Institut Charles Gerhardt in Montpellier and will provide access to important complementary skills, expertise and facilities."

About Prof. Silvia Giordani
Silvia Giordani is full Professor (Chair) of Nanomaterials within the School of Chemical Sciences at Dublin City University. She received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Miami and carried out postdoctoral research at Trinity College Dublin and at the University of Trieste. In 2007 she received the prestigious President of Ireland Young Researcher Award and was a Research Assistant Professor at TCD from 2007 to 2013. Since September 2013 she has been leading the new “Nano Carbon Materials” research lab at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) and in December 2016 she was appointed Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry at the University of Turin.
Her main research interests are in the design, synthesis, and characterization of a wide range of nanomaterials for applications in smart and responsive bio-related nanotechnologies.
