Former Governor to visit DCU
The former Governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley will visit Dublin City University (tomorrow) Friday, September 2nd.
O’Malley served as Governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2015 and previously as Mayor of Baltimore from 1999 to 2007.
He also served as Chair of the Democratic Governors Association from 2011 to 2013.
During his tenure as Governor of Maryland, the state returned to a healthy rate of employment. In addition, Maryland was recognised as having one of the best public school systems and acknowledged for keeping the cost of college tuition down.
O’Malley is credited with restoring the environmental health of Chesapeake Bay and reducing greenhouse emissions.
He served two terms as Mayor of Baltimore and was named by TIME Magazine as one of “America’s top five big city mayors”.
O’Malley will join broadcaster Noel Whelan, as part of a breakfast briefing event at Albert College, organised by the Advanced Transitions Programme at DCU in partnership with DCU Alumni Office.
