International academics address School of Nursing and Human Sciences conference
The Psychotherapy Department of Dublin City University School of Nursing and Human Sciences recently held a two-day interdisciplinary conference on Supervision on May 20th & 21st organised by Dr Rita Glover and Dr Aisling McMahon.
Evolving Relationships; Evolving Responsibilities; Evolving Practices brought together leading international and national experts in the field who provided keynote speeches and masterclasses focused on the evolving nature of supervision.
Renowned keynote speakers and masterclass presenters included: Colin Feltham, Emeritus Professor of Critical Counselling Studies at Sheffield Hallam University; C. Edward Watkins, Professor of Psychology at the University of North Texas; Sue Wheeler, Professor of Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leicester.
The conference offered a range of supervisor and supervisee-focused workshops, as well as contemporary research papers and symposia to inform and enhance supervisory practice and experience.
The conference schedule was designed to be of relevance to counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and nurses who are providing and receiving supervision and supervision consultation.
Delegates were issued with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) certificates, noting 6 CPD hours attended per day. CPD points (4 per day) have been approved for members of PSI with the Psychological Society of Ireland.
