DCU Graduate named as world’s best Hockey Goalkeeper
DCU graduate, David Harte, was today announced as Goalkeeper of the Year by the International Hockey Federation. The Hockey Stars are the annual awards given to the best players, coach and umpire in a given calendar year.
David, who studied BSc Physical Education & Biology at DCU, made his debut for the Irish international hockey team in 2006, helping the team qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for the first time in the country’s history. The FIH Goalkeeper of the Year title is awarded to the best men’s and women’s goalkeeper in international hockey as determined by a fan and athlete vote.
David’s twin brother, Conor, a DCU Business graduate, also plays on the international squad that qualified for Rio 2016.
