Coolest Projects 2015

Coolest Projects 2015 took place last weekend in Dublin’s RDS, where 500 projects from around Europe were showcased by girls and boys aged between 7 and 17. Dublin City University sponsored the special award for Enterprise, which was won by Conor Begley (Dundalk CoderDojo) for Quickcon.

DCU was also represented by Laura Browne who presented a talk at the event. Laura is a final year computer applications student and a mentor with the DCU Intergenerational Learning Programme, teaching over 55’s computer and technology skills. Laura also recently won the Intel Galileo third level competition with her IoT project, PowerScout energy monitoring system.

Coolest Projects was co-founded by Noel King in 2012 to showcase the talent emerging from Dojos around Europe. The event was hosted in DCU in 2013 and 2014 and is now in its fourth year, with DCU's Mark Roantree a member of the organising committee.

CoderDodo-DCU meets every Saturday with three classes for young coders with different levels of ability.
