Professor Richard O Kennedy announced the winners of the Under 17 category in Biology:

Gold - Natalie McIntosh, Alexandra College, Milltown, Dublin 6
Silver - Emma D'Arcy, St Angela's College, St Patrick's Hill, Cork
Bronze - Aisling MacNeill, Dominican College, Griffith Avenue, Dublin 9

Dr Odilla Finlayson announced the winners of the Under 17 category in Chemistry:

Gold - Stephen Dennehy, St Michael's College, Listowel
Silver - Catherine Graham, Aleandra College, Milltown, Dublin 6
Bronze< - Jacqueline O'Gorman, Salesian Secondary School, Limerick

Dr. Paul Van Kampen announced the winners of the Under 17 category in Physics:

Gold - Eoin Butler, Waterpark College, Park Road, Waterford
Silver - James Bredin, Presentation Brothers College, Mardyke, Cork
Bronze - Sean O'Sullivan, Colaiste Chriost Ri, Cork

These talented young science students will represent Ireland at the First European Union Science Olympiad in DCU in April 2003.

Mr. Charlie Daly, the Irish IOI team leader announced the winners of the Computer Programming Competition and the team to represent Ireland at International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in Wisconsin, USA in August 2003.

Dr. Eilish McLoughlin, the Irish IPhO team leader announced the winners of the Physics Competition and the panel of eight students from which the Irish team of five to represent Ireland at International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Taipei, Taiwan in July will be selected.

Dr. Paraic James, the Irish IChO team leader announced the winners of the Chemistry Competition and the panel of twelve students from which the Irish team of four to represent Ireland at International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Athens, Greece in July will be selected. "To get on this panel is not easy as the standard is increasing each year with the top student scoring a staggering 98%", said Dr James.

It was announced that the panels of students for the international Science Olympiads will receive training from the Science faculty staff before the final selection process in May. Prior to their departure to the IBO, IChO, IOI and IPhO teams will undergo a weeklong intensive residential training programme in DCU.
