DCU students and grads line out in All Ireland Ladies Football Final
Just like their male counterparts, Dublin Ladies Footballers are in the All Ireland Final and there is a great connection with DCU past and present.
The current squad includes DCU students Kate Fitzgibbon, Katie Murray and Eabha Rutledge, while graduates Lucy Collins, Lindsay Davey, Fiona Hudson, Sinead Finnegan, Niamh McEvoy and Niamh Rickard will also feature. St Patrick’s Drumcondra also have a connection in the shape of Ciara Ruddy. The college has welcomed Lauren McGee and Emer Ni Eafa into the college as First years, while Philippa Green, has started masters and are also on the current panel.
The connection with DCU remains strong through the team making use of facilities such as the pitches and high performance gym at DCU Sports Campus.
The Intermediate Final on Sunday will see Kildare taking on Waterford with current student Caoimhe O’Fearghail featuring. Stephen Maxwell, who will take up the reins as manager of DCU’s O’Connor Cup team this year, and former student Niamh McEvoy will have an important role to play as part of the Kildare back-room team.
In the Junior Final, Louth will take on Scotland, with former student Bronagh McGrane featuring.
