Indian Government supports eight DCU joint research project proposals

The Indian Government Department of Science and Technology (DST) has recently approved 23 projects submitted under the India Ireland Cooperative Science Programme for funding, 8 of which involve DCU as the Irish partnering institution. The remaining 15 projects approved are divided amonst eight other third level institutions throughout Ireland.

Last October the DST announced its first call for proposals under the Programme, inviting joint applications from Indian and Irish researchers in the following scientific areas:

- nano science and technology 
- sustainable energy and energy efficient technology
- information and communication technology 
- chemical, biochemical/pharmaceutical sciences 
- food and agricultural sciences
- biotechnology
- marine sciences

Dublin City University has recently signed Memoranda of Understanding with the IIT Madras, with whom it will cooperate on three research projects, and with the IIT Delhi, with whom it will cooperate on two projects.

Other collaborating research institutions will now also include the Indian Institute of Information Technology, New Delhi, the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad and Bharathiar University.
