Post-doctoral Researcher Announced
Mater Dei Centre for Catholic Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bernadette Sweetman to the position of post-doctoral researcher in adult religious education and faith development at the Centre. This is a three-year post, funded by a Gift Agreement with the Presentation Sisters, North East Province, facilitated through the DCU Educational Trust.
The research project will investigate the literature associated with adult religious education and faith development and models available around the world. It will also engage with some adult religious education initiatives in Ireland and contribute to an analysis of what might work well for a variety of adults in differing circumstances.
Over the three-year period, the project will also develop a number of pilot projects testing new approaches to adult religious education and faith development in partnership with local faith communities. Efforts will be made to encouraging adults in reflecting on their own religious faith journey and their awareness of what it means to be part of a parish or other faith community.
MDCCE is very happy to welcome Bernadette to the team at the Centre. We look forward to our new emphasis on adult religious education, complementing the teaching and learning, and research in primary and second-level Catholic education, ongoing at the Centre.
