Celebrating Mass: A Video Resource
Dr Gareth Byrne, Director of MDCCE celebrated Mass on RTE for the beginning of Catholic Schools Week on January 24th, 2021. Members of St. Gabriel’s Parish Community, Dollymount, Dublin participated. Liturgical music was provided by Solas, a music group from the same parish.

As well as introducing the theme of the celebration, this video may help provide a useful starting point for reflection with student teachers and chaplains, with parish liturgy enhancement groups, with prayer groups, and for individuals who might want to study the celebration of the Mass. Discussion of a variety of closely connected questions might be anticipated, such as preparation of the celebration, the parts of the Mass, presiding at the Eucharist, proclaiming the Word of God, the role of the homily, the importance of songs carefully chosen for the occasion, and spiritual communion in the time of COVID-19 restrictions.
We would like to thank RTE for their close attention to detail in the preparation and support for this prayerful celebration of the Eucharist at which 111,100 people participated from home on the day.
