Infrastructure Team
Will McDermott is the manager of the Infrastructure Team which is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the foundational technology systems that support DCU’s digital operations.

Team Responsibilities:
- Network Infrastructure: Designing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's network infrastructure (e.g., LAN, WAN, VPN).
- Wi-Fi: Ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance wireless connectivity for all users and devices across all DCU campuses.
- Server Infrastructure: Managing and maintaining the server infrastructure, cloud computing resources, data storage technologies and data centre locations, both on-campus and remote.
- Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Using modern monitoring platforms to track the health of infrastructure components (e.g., servers, applications, network traffic) and prevent downtime, while optimising resources to handle growing demands.
- DR/BC Planning: Design Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity strategies and implement systems to ensure critical operations can continue or recover quickly in the event of disruptions, such as hardware failures, cyberattacks, or natural disasters.
- Provide Integration Support: Assist in connecting and aligning various systems, applications, and platforms to ensure seamless communication, functionality, and operational efficiency across the organisation's technology stack.
- Partnerships: Working closely with other business units to support digital transformation and strategic business initiatives, while advising the organisation on infrastructure improvements and future investments.
