Keynote at SPHE Conference
The SPHE Conference Citizenship Education 100 years on was held at NUI Maynooth on12th Nov. 2016. This conference sought to unpack and problematise the concept of citizenship and to explore how we story our lives together in an increasingly globalised world and pluralist Ireland. This conference brought together academics, teachers, student teachers, postgraduate students, health professionals, policy-makers, NGOs and the wider education community, to engage in dialogue about social, personal and health education (SPHE) in Irish primary and post-primary schools.
The conference keynote entitled “Identity, Well-being and SPHE” was delivered by Dr. Maeve O’Brien and Dr. Andrew O’Shea of School of Human Development I of E, DCU. The organising committee and SPHE network includes many members of the School of Human Development who also presented papers on the day.
