AFU meeting, 16th - 18th September
The Age Friendly University (AFU) initiative involves partner universities from three countries- Dublin City University (Ireland) Arizona State University (USA) and Strathclyde University (Scotland, UK). This initiative aims to engage with older adults and representative organisations, exploring innovative ways in which universities can harness their educational and research expertise and resources to make a real difference to the well-being of this growing section of our communities.
DCU was pleased to host the first meeting involving colleagues from the three partner institutions from 16th - 18th of September.
The Working Group set out to identify the distinctive contributions that can be made by higher education institutions working together to address the needs of older adults in their respective communities. The set of 10 generic principles for an 'Age Friendly University' that have been adopted by the partner institutions were discussed and a plan for further actions developed.
