A Taste of DCU, 13 September 2012
As part of DCU's commitment to meeting the interests and needs of older adults a one-day programme, Taste of DCU, took place on 13 September 2012. The aim of this event was to give participants a taste of the range and breadth of courses offered at the University, as well as providing an opportunity to visit the campus and meet with DCU staff and students. There was an overwhelming response from older adults in the local community and greater Dublin area and over 150 people participated in the event.
The President of DCU, Professor Brian MacCraith, gave a warm welcome to participants and emphasised DCU's commitment to providing opportunities for people of all ages to engage in education, wellness and cultural activities. Professor Maria Slowey, Director of HERC (Higher Education Research Centre)and Chair of the Age-Friendly University Working Group and Dr Trudy Corrigan, Director of the Intergenerational Learning Centre then introduced the programme for the day.
