Writing Retreat Seminar, 13-15 May, Rosslare
HERC Postdoctoral researcher Dr Ekaterina Kozina participated with fellow authors for a 3 day writing retreat in Kelly’s Hotel, Rosslare! Supported by NAIRTL (the National Academy for Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning) the aim of this writers’ retreat was to provide authors of submissions to a major forthcoming publication by EDIN (The Educational Developers in Ireland Network) /Emerging Issues III/ with an opportunity to work on, or complete their chapters.
In parallel with the production of the publication, EDIN plans to evaluate the process associated with writing a book in this manner, where authors have the opportunity to discuss key points and drafts at an early stage. The retreat has focused exclusively on writing. It was a task-oriented exercise and the structured sessions over the 3 days helped the co-authors to set goals and encouraged the chapter writing progress- no time to go to the spa!
The chapter proposed by HERC Director, Professor Maria Slowey and Dr. Ekaterina Kozina is based on a survey conducted of the professional development interests of academic staff across the eight institutions of higher education in the Dublin Region Higher Education Alliance (DRHEA).
