IRSA National Researcher Forum 2012
Following the successful inaugural event in Spring of last year, the Irish Research Staff Association is delighted to announce the Second Annual National Researcher Forum: What next for researchers? The future for Research in Ireland, Europe and Internationally.
This year's forum, generously sponsored by IRCSET, will take place on Friday March 30th 12.30pm-5.30pm in The Oak Room of the Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin, so please save the date to your calendars as it promises to be another stimulating event. The Forum will draw together a variety of perspectives from policy-makers, funding agencies and academics, facilitating a constructive discussion about researcher careers and research policy in Ireland and internationally.
The Forum is intended to be an open and inclusive event, allowing researchers to engage with decision-makers in the public service, higher education institutions and industry. This is the second year of the Forum, following a very successful and well attended event in April 2011. Guest panellists from the Higher Education Authority, the Department of Jobs and Enterprise, Forfas, Vitae UK, the European Science Foundation and Irish universities will discuss recent developments in research policy, the launch of new official initiatives such as the Research Prioritisation Exercise and the prospects for achieving viable career paths within academia. The event will include perspectives from the trade union movement, business and other relevant stakeholders.
