FETRC plays a key role in shaping Ireland’s Further Education and Training (FET) Strategy

DCU’s Further Education & Training Research Centre (FETRC) has submitted evidence-based policy recommendations to SOLAS as part of the FET Strategy 2025–2029 public consultation.

 Key Focus Areas:

  • Addressing Ireland’s evolving skills needs, particularly in digital, green, and technical sectors.
  • Strengthening FET-to-higher education (HE) pathways and lifelong learning opportunities.
  • Enhancing work-based learning, employer engagement, and professional development for FET educators.
  • Expanding career guidance, learner supports, and inclusion measures for under-represented groups.

Why it matters:
FETRC’s research directly informs national policy, ensuring FET remains a dynamic, inclusive, and future-ready sector. Our expertise in apprenticeships, micro-credentials, digital learning, and access to education is helping to shape strategic solutions for Ireland’s FET landscape.
