DkIT and DCU to build strategic alliance

DCU and Dundalk Institute of Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Oldbridge Estate, Drogheda, Co Louth. This formal agreement signifies the first steps in building a strategic alliance between the two educational parties.

This Memorandum of Understanding sets out the areas of co-operation across a multidisciplinary approach to academic programme development, research, enterprise support and internationalisation between the two higher educational to supporting the education and research needs of the Dublin – Belfast Corridor and the broader North Eastern Region.

Speaking at today's event, President of Dundalk Institute of Technology, Denis Cummins said, 

"Today's signing is very significant to DkIT as we seek to build a strategic partnership for academic endeavours. This agreement will greatly widen the opportunities available to our students both in education and research."

President of Dublin City University, Professor Brian MacCraith went on to say, 

"We are delighted to be making a public announcement on our intent to establish a significant, strategic partnership with DkIT. This is entirely consistent with our strategic focus on the Eastern Corridor and our commitment to support social and economic growth as Ireland's University of Enterprise."

This announcement was made in response to the National Strategy for Regional Clusters in the HEA Landscape Document.
