DCU named in World's Top Young Universities

Dublin City University has been ranked among the world's top 50 universities in a new league table of the world's young universities which are less than 50 years old. The only Irish university to be featured, DCU has been placed 46th in a QS World University Rankings showcasing the next generation of leading universities, all established since 1962.

Professor Brian MacCraith, President of DCU welcomed the announcement saying,

"We are delighted with this outcome. The inclusion of DCU in this rankings table is a resounding international endorsement of our quality as a young, dynamic university which places a strong emphasis on excellence in our teaching, innovation and research."

Universities were scored on academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, publications per faculty, citations per paper, the proportion of international faculty and international students, inbound exchange students and outbound exchange students.

The publication of this new league table is noteworthy as most university rankings favour older institutions with an established brand and a vast alumni body developed over centuries. A ranking of new and emerging universities creates a level playing field among those still developing a global reputation and identifies the next-generation of university powerhouses.
