Bert Gordijn, Secretary of the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Health Care, takes part at the society's 33rd annual conference in Oslo, Norway, 7 - 10 August 2019
This conference was organized by the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Healthcare and the Faculty of Medicine at the Centre for Medical Ethics at the University of Oslo, Norway. Its focus was on ethical and philosophical issues related to "Philosophy and Ethics at the Edge of Medicine". One may think one knows what the terms ‘medicine’ and ‘health care’ denote and what activities should be classed as falling under each of them. Yet both medicine and health care have fuzzy borders in themselves and also overlap with other areas of human activity, e.g. in relation to the legal system or the cosmetic industry. This conference addressed issues around this topic amongst others. For more information see here.
