Professor Joe O'Hara joins the Teacher's Professional Journeys Project
EQI Director Prof Joe O'Hara has joined the Project Review and Monitoring Committee of the Teachers Professional Journeys - the First Decade project. The project, which runs until 2029 aims to investigate beginning teachers’ professional journeys, and the key personal, educational, professional and systemic influences that define and shape their early careers and practice including the impact of different learning and early professional development phases.
This will be the first longitudinal study of teachers in Ireland and will see researchers from the ESRI, Mary Immaculate College and the University of Limerick examine the journeys of beginning teachers over the first nine years of their careers. Funded by the Department of Education and the Teaching Council it will involve research with three cohorts of graduates from initial teacher education, covering primary, post-primary and further education.
The project PIs are Prof Emer Smyth (ESRI), Prof Aisling Leavy ( MIC) and Prof Paul Conway (UL).
