Symposium: Unveiling Culturally Responsive Assessment in Schools
The EQI is hosting a significant event on Friday 7th June in DCU St. Patrick’s Campus. Since September 2016, EQI has been involved in a project funded by Erasmus + with partners in universities in Austria, Norway and Turkey. The project, titled “Aiding Culturally Responsive Assessment in Schools” (ACRAS) has focused on classroom assessment at lower second level.
The rationale for the project is the increase in the number of students with a migration background in the schools in each of the partner countries. The methodology for the project included a literature survey, a questionnaire of school personnel and school case studies in each of the four countries. Open access publications are distributing the findings of these methods. Significant outputs to support the implementation of culturally responsive assessment in schools are a toolkit for second level teachers and a semester module for higher education institutions for teacher training at second level.
Some of the findings of this project are cutting edge and point a direction for the future in assessment in classrooms that have a student group with linguistic and cultural diversity.
On the 7th June, EQI, along with the partners from universities in Austria, Norway and Turkey, will be presenting the key findings of the project. Please find a link to an invitation for the 7th June as we should be delighted if you could join us for this event. The ACRAS website is www.acras.eu
