EQI Researchers Present at the European Educational Research Association, UCD, Dublin
Researchers from EQI presented 4 themed research papers at the European Conference for Educational Research at UCD in August. The papers, in core areas of EQI interest including Assessment, Polycentric Evaluation, Inspection and Culture in Evaluation, were well received and resulted in lively discussions at all sessions.

Dr. Brendan Walsh publishes ‘Essays in the History of Irish Education ‘
EQI member and Head of the School of Policy and Practice, Dr. Brendan Walsh, published his long awaited Essays in the History of Irish Education.
The book provides a complete overview of the development of education in Ireland including the complex issue of how religion can coexist with education and how a national identity can be aided through Irish language teaching. It also offers a comprehensive exploration of the development, issues, challenges and future of education in Ireland within the context of historical studies.
The book includes a chapter by Dr. Walsh on Teachers’ Experience of School: First-hand Accounts, 1943–1965 as well as a chapter by EQI’s Dr. Martin Brown, Prof Gerry McNamara and Prof Joe O’Hara on Teacher Accountability in Education: The Irish Experiment.
